Southern Mansi texts of
Munkácsi Bernát and Artturi Kannisto
Munkácsi Bernát (1860-1937, Hungarian linguist), on his fieldwork from May 1888 to April 1889, collected one of the biggest collections of Mansi materials. His Vogul Népköltési Gyűjtemény (1892, 1892, 1893, 1896) was published in four volumes. The fourth volume contains roughly 30 pages of Southern Mansi folk-tales, songs and riddles.
Artturi Kannisto (1874-1943, Finnish linguist) collected heroic tales and songs among the Mansi people living on the Tavda river in the first decades of the 20th century. In the volumes of the posthumous published Wogulische Volksdichtung, there're in all 60 pages of Southern Mansi data.
These two corpora make up all the texts that are know in this extinct Mansi dialect. (link to the Southern Mansi corpora)
